Buy Me a Coffee

Season 12, Episode 5

Diana

Age: 40’s?
Location: Roseville, California
Addiction: Meth, Alcohol, Norco
What’s memorable: How far she’s fallen, with the homelessness and prostitution and abusive boyfriend. Her emotionless and seemingly uncaring mother (i.e. “There are times I should have pretended to care more than I did”) and how she refused to tell her she loved her even at the intervention. Most of all, her kids. How much they adore her and care about her, how emotional they are about seeing where she’s at now. The post-rehab airport reunion at the end was so full of love and joy, it was beyond heartwarming. This was a truly powerful family story and reminded me of why I love this show so much. “I can’t believe my family gives that much of a shit about me. Unbelievable” – Diana. That is the point of Intervention right there.

Official Synopsis: Former ‘Super Mom’ to her three children, Diana has exchanged her apron for an alcohol and meth addiction and is unraveling her marriage, family and sense of self-respect.

Original Air Date: September 2012
Interventionist: Candy

I wonder about Diana’s future, because holy cow, her mom is a cold woman. There has to be something going on with Mom, because in every picture of her, she looked – I don’t know, scared? Haunted? She’s an odd woman, and without her support, I wonder how Diana’s going to make it.

    1. Dizzy

Let’s hope Diana learns how to not need her support in order to stay sober, because if not she’ll be in certain trouble.

      1. Melissadiana1980

Radical acceptance of your parent is key just accepting they likely won’t change. it can be a long and arduous task actually getting there.

  2. anna

I would like to inform you that Diana is doing great!!!! She is sober since her intervention and I know this since I am apart of the family. Her son’s and daughter are extremely proud of her and so am I and everyone else.

    1. unchainedcyna

That is fantastic news! Diana’s story really touched me, and I’m so happy to hear she’s doing well. Stay strong, Diana!

    2. Breanna Jimenez

I just watched the episode on a rerun and was wondering how she is doing? I live in Rocklin ca and my father is an alcoholic and this episode greatly touched me. I want this for my dad more than anything.

    3. Candace

Hey! I was just wondering how Diana is doing now?? I hope she is doing great! I feel like she was meant for amazingly, great things! Would love to hear an update about her!!

  3. Melanie

Wow. Diana is such a beautiful soul and has amazing kids. Her Mom did get one thing right, she certainly had/has sparkle! So, so happy to hear that she’s been sober since February 2012. ❤️❤️❤️

  4. Sandy

Diana made me, a complete stranger, so proud. I cheered from my bed when I saw her sobered since Dec 2012. It takes a strong self to fight for the evil within. Diana, you ARE one true beautiful woman, mom, sister, and daughter. Please keep it up and hold your head high. Your future is brighter than ever. Your children are exceptionally wonderful. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

  5. aj

I am so touched by how deeply those kids love their mom &it warmed/hurt my heart because i miss mine so much. The bit in the airport was so beautiful to see. Congrats to Diana!! I hope she is still doing well! Her future can be so bright.

  6. Sharron

I would love to meet Diana one day, she must be a very special mom and person. Diana, I am so so proud of you and the hard work that you have done to heal, not only yourself but your family. Your children are truly amazing and their loyalty and love for you is beyond measure. You have truly done a wonderful job. My blessings to you and your family, remember you are loved. 7. Kat

OMG those kids. This is one of the best episodes ever. You are amazing, Diana!

  8. cricket

One of the best episodes. Diana is a gem and I’m so glad she got the opportunity to get well and heal. A beautiful woman and her children, such wonderful children, beautiful in every way. This story really touched my heart.

I also have to point out that Diana’s mother doesn’t deserve the negative comments that I’m reading here. Yes, she wasn’t demonstratively affectionate, I agree with that. However, she clearly loves her daughter. She showed up for every bit of this process and participated whole heartedly. She did the best she could do and that’s pretty good stuff.

The hug they shared at the end of the episode were priceless and so joyful.

  9. Traci McGreggor

DIANA’S three children watched their mothers addiction take so much from her. They did not take themselves out of her life. I witnessed her children save her life with intervention. I want her children to know that there love and determination saved her life and sole in my opinion. They have her and she has them. She is enough just herself to receive the love of her children.

  10. Kimberly

WOW….OH WOW! Found this from Candy. Diana looks AMAZING!!! So happy for her and her family!

  11. Jenn

How wonderful to hear! I am from Fair Oaks, which is about a 10-15 minute drive to Roseville. I have wondered about her- I remember her oldest (?) son was so worried about her and was going to beat up her “boyfriend”. Yay Diana!

  12. Dawn

This was an amazing reality of love can conquer all.Diana was willed back to life thru the love of her children and her hard work while at treatment. The tears rolled freely….several times. Many blessings to this family.
They are all VERY WORTHY. Thank you for sharing your story.

  13. Mandy Nolan

Loved Diana’s episode. Her children are a message of hope. I wish all of them the very best life has to offer.

  14. Val

Congratulations to Diana on her sobriety. The progress she’s made has been incredible and her children are the kind of kids I hope to have some day. Beautiful, caring and compassionate children… I have never seen so much love for a parent. I wish you all the best of luck in the future.

  15. Bunny

It’s now four years later and I’m only just now seeing the episode about Diana for the first time. Can someone please tell me if she’s still doing well? And her mom and kids? Oh I truly pray everyone continues to be healthy and well. What a victorious and special woman to have finally been able to see the strong woman she is, worthy of love and acceptance!! 🙂 🙂

  16. Dawn

her mother recently passed away~hope they were able to mend their relationship!!

So very sorry to hear that. Sending prayers for her and encouragement. God loves you, Diana. Don’t give up!

  19. Kellie S.

    Hello:)

Someone recently shared that my mom’s intervention was shown again, so I came on here and stumbled across all of these comments.

I am so happy my mom’s story touched so many hearts. For those who are looking for an update, I am happy to share that today, mom is still sober.

She has relapsed a couple times and was open and honest about it. Both times, she appeared to quickly get back a positive path. The difference between then and now is that we all have tools and a support system to help us cope and keep living our lives.

We(Zach, Kody and I), are so incredibly proud of our mom. Since the show, Kody and I have both had babies and she is an awesome Grandma!

One of the comments mentioned my grandma passing away. It has been difficult for all of us. We love grandma. She is not as heartless as she appeared on the show. She supported my mom every step of the way. They were living together when she passed.

A big thanks to Intervention again for giving us the opportunity to have our mom back.

We take it one day at a time, but I am forever grateful for the happy memories we have been able to make that replaced some not so pleasant ones.

    1. LJK

Thanks so much for updating! I just finished this episode and was cheering for your mom. So glad to hear she is doing well. Thanks for the information about your Grandma also – I’m sorry for your loss. Give your a mom a hug for me.

    2. Marisa Snider

So happy to read this. I am from Toronto, Canada and just saw the episode for the first time today. The love you and your brothers have for your mom has touched my heart. Sorry about the passing of your grandmother. Praying for you, your brothers, your families and your beautiful mom.

    3. Ashley

I am watching the episode now, although I have seen it before and wondered how she is doing. You are a beautiful family, and I hope your mom continues on her path to recovery. Congratulations to you and Kody on your babies and I am so happy to hear she is a wonderful grandma. I am praying for you all, that the path continues smoothly and in the right direction. Xo

    4. Morgan Mitchell

Kellie I just watched your mom’s episode and it touched me so much. I cried sad and happy tears. I’ve been in your shoes before but my story didn’t end good. My mom ended up passing over drugs and it hurts but seeing you guys story makes me so happy. I’m 23 with 3 year old and miss her everyday . You are so blessed. And never give up on her

    5. Katie T.

I hope you and your family have the happiest future. I just posted below about what you all made me feel. I hope with all my heart your mom stays well for the three of you and her grandchildren ♡

    6. Jen H.

Hi Kellie, I recently watched your Mom’s episode via “On Demand” and have to say as many episodes as I have watched of Intervention, your family truly touched my heart. I am elated to hear that your Mom is still doing well and I am sure it helps her to know that she has so many people rooting for her when and/if she ever has a hard day. I can relate as I was married to an addict who has been out of my life and my daughter’s life for close to 7 years now which breaks my heart for her but it is for the best as I truly feel in my heart that there is no hope for him as he simply doesn’t want it and I feel that he is, to put it simply, not a good person unfortunately- contrary to what he made me believe when we were married and expecting my beautiful daughter. I had a similar tv appearance but was part of the cast featured on a recent season of a hit reality tv show and know how difficult it can be to face so many negative comments that have “difficult to digest” potential and am happy to see that does not seem to be the case here. I know this is a reach and because of that I am not sure why I am even still typing but simply feel compelled to reach out to your brother Zach due to an undeniable connection I seem to have with him intuitively and of course the blatantly obvious reason being that he is so damn handsome LOL. Of course the only way that would happen is if you happened to actually read this comment and then somehow get in contact with me 786.777.83**. You all have such BIG hearts, as do I, and could feel the pain and sincerity each of you have endured and can only pray that time, hope and love can heal your hearts and make the not so great memories fade into the distance. Congrats on your baby, I know they are by far the best things to happen in this life time and pray that you all continue living a long, prosperous and fulfilled life. Warm Regards, Jen H. <3

    7. Chanell Watkins

I just watched your moms story and it was beautiful. Im so proud of you guys and your mama. Its hard to have an addict as a parent, often times you feel like the parent yourself. Im so happy to hear she is doing well and you kids have found the tolls needed to heal and have healthy relationships with her. God bless you all!

    8. Anton

Thank you for sharing Kellie! I’m not sure why everyone on here is saying that grandma looked cold. She absolutely lit up when Diane went home. Rest in peace. Thank you and your family for sharing your moms struggles. Im battling an alcohol addiction right now and am hopeful that I will win. Your moms story was inspiring. I hope that everything is well!

    9. Steffani

I just wanted to say that your mom’s story and the love you kids had for her really struck a chord with me. I remember when it came out. probably my favorite episode of intervention. I just rewatched it recently and I’ve been wondering how all of the people on the show held up since lockdowns and COVID. it almost took my sobriety. I hope you are all doing well. congrats to her and you all on the grandbabies and I’m so sorry to hear about your grandma. you could tell she loved your mom and cared about her well being. she seems like she’s had some trauma herself. my best wishes to you all

    10. Kara Bishop

I am so happy to hear this Kellie! I would like to thank you and your siblings, and your mom, for allowing your lives to be shown for the world to see… It helps so many of us recovering addicts stay sober & and others who are still struggling with addiction think about taking that step towards recovery. I really could relate to your mom, as I was addicted to crystal meth on and off (1993-2004)from the age of 18 until I was 29 when I got pregnant with my son. I have been sober from Crystal meth for over 18 years…but I did have a relapse, not with crystal meth… I’ve never done that since 2004 but after being on morphine in the hospital (Roseville Sutter-since you know the area) for almost a month and being on morphine, I became addicted to Norco’s for almost 2 years, but now I have been off of Norco’s for over 10 years. Both are an awful addiction, so I’m so glad that your mom is sober! Your mom really is one amazing lady… And you and your siblings (& your mom) are so loving, it was great to see that she had family that truly loves her with their entire soul! She is so deserving of that love! I just live in Rocklin but I am always in Roseville (when my daughter was younger, she went to the Roseville Theater Arts Academy in downtown Roseville on Vernon Street) so if ever your mom needs a sober friend or just someone to give or get advice from, have her look me up on Face Book (or you can comment on here too Dizzy, the amazing lady that runs this site, and she can give you my email.. Well, you & your family will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers and I hope you are all happy, healthy & enjoying the new year!! ❤️ Kara Bishop

    Kellie,

Thank you so much for the update. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your grandmother. No doubt she will be missed. I send my sincere sympathy.

I wish your Mom would look into becoming a public spokesperson. She would be such an inspiration to so many people, especially because her successes and struggles are not sugar coated as some stories are. (Succeed, fall back once or twice, succeed again and live happily ever after – in other words your Mom is “real”. And yet, she is a beautiful testament to unending hope and success. If she doesn’t want to be a spokesperson, then she should write a book. With all the stories out there surely hers would aid others and being a published author would bring her a new and exciting goal to work towards! Perhaps the Intervention show people could get her in touch with someone at a book company, someone who could help her write it. I don’t know of anyone like that personally, but I’d be first in line to buy such a book!

God bless your Mom and you, and your family.

  21. Jessica H.

Kellie, so great to hear that your mom and family are all doing well. Congratulations on the baby! I just saw the Intervention with your mom on it a few days ago it was clear how much you all loved each other. It brought me to tears. Sorry about the loss of your grandma, but I’m glad she was able to be there for your mom before she passed on.

  22. lisen

Kellie, thank you so much for the update on your mom! I’m extremely pleased to hear she’s doing well. I love the show and Diana’s episode is one of my top, top favorites because I relate to her so much, and also it’s so rewarding to see a beautiful person overcome something so horrendous and succeed. It sounds like she (and you kids!) dealt with her relapses like champions. On a more shallow note, I can’t tell you how happy I am she finished with that AWFUL man she was with during her episode, who I am sure contributed quite a lot to the crushing of her soul. I could totally feel Zach’s rage. With any TV show, things get edited a certain way to make a point, but the fact is that your grandmother, despite how difficult the whole situation clearly was for her, was there for Diana. There have been plenty of episodes where a parent couldn’t even be bothered to show up. Thank you also for sharing your feelings about her.

Congratulations to you and your family, Kellie! So tickled that Diana’s a grandma now…I bet she’s loving every second!Total strangers think you guys are awesome! 🙂 🙂 🙂

  23. Adrienne

This is by far my favorite episode of Intervention. I see a lot of my mother in Diana, and the love her children have for her is so beautiful. I’d love to see Diana doing Interventions one day. Diana, you’re amazing!

  24. Erica

unfortunately, Diana is using again ):

    1. Mamaka

      How do you know this??

    2. Jesy

And who are you and now do you know?

  25. Stephanie lucas

I thought this way a great episode great job Diana. Ur children u cld tell just love u so much. And i might i say u have 2 good look looking young men and a beautiful daughter.. Hope all is well

  26. Amy

I really loved this episode. Your kids are amazing Diana! You are a whole new woman with a wonderful new outlook on life. Ps. Kody is handsome as ever. The love your kids have for you is incredible. Stay sober… never give up! Best wishes to you and your family!!

  27. Katie T.

There have been quite a few episodes that have just gotten a hold of me, but to see Diana’s kids the way they were just totally hit home. My childhood circumstances weren’t the same with Diana’s overall lifestyle, but I’ve been there pleading with my brother and sister to my dad to stop drinking. I am just totally overjoyed for Diana and her kids that she was able to get well. It’s crazy too because I lived in Sacramento for several years and am still within an hour away from Roseville. I’m not going to lie, I bawled my eyes out during the intervention and when they picked her up from the airport. You can tell she was a good mother to them by how much they love and care for her. So happy for them all ♡

  28. Kellie G

I have watched about 30 episodes in the past 3 days and this is the first one that I just had to comment on. What a testament to Diana’s love and devotion to her children… I have never seen children so determined, and hopeful, for their addicted parent to be well. Their reunion at the airport was just overwhelmingly filled with love and pride. Diana, I wish you the best. You are worth your sobriety. And your children are jewels. Truly.

  29. Toreigh

The sincerity and depth of the love her children had/have for her, especially her son (youngest son I believe). The explosive emotions both during her intervention, and on her arrival home to sober living, was truly heart breaking and heart warming at the same time. I hope that they are all doing very well and that life is giving them every thing they deserve 💞

  30. MeAgs

The most devastating thing about this episode, is her mother; the woman that can’t give (or evidently feel) love.
What a sad and lonely life that must be.

  31. Elle

Any updates on how Diana is doing? Her story has touched my heart along with how loving and supportive her children were (are.)

  32. Melody

In the scene where Diana leaves her boyfriend to go buy meth and comes back an hour later… Did anyone else notice that in the beginning of that scene she’s wearing tan pants and a leopard print top, then a second later she’s wearing jeans and a brown top? WTH is up with that? I feel like this show is a sham now.

  33. Roberto

Can we please have a update on Diana ❤️ Just watched this episode and it touched my heart . What a amazing family

  34. Alicia

When I watched this episode, I absolutely felt the genuine love she and her children had for one another. I couldn’t stop the tears from falling when her children pleaded their letters to her. This strong bond and love that she has for her kids is how much I have for my own son. His father passed from a Heroin overdose, and it breaks my heart for him along for her and her children. This is the only Episode of Intervention that I truly felt the genuine care from this family and really felt heart broken with tears. Also, I don’t believe she’s bi-polar, I feel as though she may be a sensitive. I hope she and her family are doing amazing!

  35. Charlotte

Diana’s mom. Wow, this was a rough one.

  36. Gehrig B

Absolutely my favorite episode ever. I actually vaguely remembered seeing it back in 2012 but I was so much younger then and I had such a viscerally different reaction now; Like actually sobbing.

I love seeing Kellie’s comment in here. But it’s from 2016! I truly hope you all are doing great still. You & your brother’s made the entire episode as captivating as it was. Adore y’all.

    1. dd rr

Agreed! While I always feel emotional watching these, there are very few episodes where actual TEARS are streaming down my cheeks!

  37. Emily

Pretty sure Dianas mom has Aspergers. Id put money on it. God bless this family. 💕

    1. Mary

Omg I said the same thing!!

  38. Sandz

I was very moved by this episode. Diana may have had her problems but to have raised 3 kids that are so loving, caring and understanding she must have done something very right. And to be able to be so affectionate and warm towards her children even though she wasn’t given that same motherly affection says alot about her character. I do (partially) understand her mom. With my personality type I’m not always the best at showing emotion and being overly affectionate to anyone besides my kids and pets. My 9 year old asked me if grown ups ever cry because that’s never an emotion he ever saw from me. I wish I was that affectionate type of person though, my husband definitely is! I do make an effort to hug them and tell them how much I love them though. I hope Diana and her family are doing good. I hope when my 3 kids are older that they will love me and each other as much as her kids do. It truly was amazing to watch their love for each other, I hope they are still that close.

  39. Jessica

So touched by this episode. Such a warm loving family. Over joyed to see her sober up and really hoping for an update. Zach, Kody, and Kellie seem like they have good heads on their shoulders and deserve ever lasting happiness. I hope the family is in a better place making better memories. Sending you guys and Diana my love and prayers for continued success for the future! ❤️

  40. Mary

I have never in my life seen such a cold-hearted “mother”. I seriously wonder if there is some asperger’s syndrome or autism going on. She has that look in her eyes, as if she has no spirit or emotion. Even Candy was like “WTAF?”
There is definitely something going on there.
So happy to hear Diana still sober! She has gorgeous children who love her very much, and just want their momma! I She realizes SHE stops the disfunction and breaks the chain of emotional abuse (via her mother).
I hope she has 10 grand babies now and hugs them all of the time!!

    1. Stefan

Please don’t assume everyone on the Spectrum is like her mother. Many of us are intensely emotional but simply turn it off due to feeling them so intensely.

      1. Natalie

I also want to refute the uneducated comments about those on the spectrum.

  41. Gigi

Can I just say that Diana has some BEAUTIFUL children both inside and out…if either of her sons are single I’m willing to relocate 😌

    1. janine

      you and me both!

  42. Natalie

So glad to hear she’s enjoying being a grandma. I can tell Diana is a good mom, and I’m thankful she can be there for her kids and grandkids. They need her!

  43. Genevieve Mainardi

I usually dont get emotional at Intervention I have watched it sooo many times but when she said yes to the treatment and hugged all her kids at once I was sobbing. They are such a beautiful family. I hope she continues to do well

  44. LK

Diana’s episode is one of my favorites. She was a really likable and beautiful person who was just struggling with serious problems. She had such a fun, “spunky” personality (hence the “dynamite” nickname) and was clearly an incredible mother. I wasn’t too surprised that she was diagnosed with bipolar at the end, I had a feeling she was either bipolar or borderline based on her behaviors (fear and feeling of abandonment, extreme mood swings, etc.). Her children’s love and concern for her was very touching and it was a pleasure to watch them interact and watching how happy they were when they greeted her on her return from rehab! A lot of people talk about how Diana’s mother was ice cold, but I think she had issues of her own. Her allusion to her family not expressing emotions, her thousand-yard stare at almost all times, I’m sure she was dealing with some level of trauma. And I can understand why she grew fed up with Diana’s behaviors during addiction because living with an addict is very stressful and heartbreaking. And as some speculate, it wouldn’t surprise me if she might’ve been autistic. All in all, I thought Diana and her family were lovely and I wish them the best going forward!

    1. Fred

What happened to Billy? I wonder why he wasnt offered treatment too?

      1. LK

I’ve noticed that they don’t usually offer treatment to abusive partners, because I think they just want to get the addict away from the abuser (another example being Rachel’s boyfriend Joie, I think that was in season 10?)

  45. AS

does anyone know an update on diana? or have any of the family’s facebook? I’m curious to see how she is doing!

  46. Mike

Diana’s mom is the cruelest person in the world. I notice her biological son clings to her side not wanting to cross over to his sisters section of the room. I don’t think I have ever watched an episode where the mother is so cold and cruel and never once said “I love you” what hurt me the most is when Diana found her biological mother and she said “I didn’t want you then, I don’t want you now, go away” Wow, that is beyond cruel. I wish her well and beyond.

  47. Maya

This episode touched me so much. I hope she’s doing well all these years later. Even after everything she went through, she maintained such a beautiful soul and you can see it in her children. Children dont grow up to be that way without a wonderful mom. She reminds me of my own in that regard. After her treatment I audibly gasped at how beautiful she was. She looked like a totally new person and im so proud of her.

  48. Madeleine A.

This is maybe my favorite episode of all time. The love is so palpable. I have all the well wishes for this beautiful family.
