Update May 7, 2019

Today’s the day! A new episode, but not a new season. It looks like there will be 3 new episodes to close out season 19 (the last episode in the season was almost a year ago) and apparently they’re on a theme – Addicted Moms, Young and Addicted, and Family of Addicts.

Tonight is Addicted Moms featuring Sandra and Mallory. I won’t be able to watch the episode until tomorrow but I’ve published the posts in case y’all wanna talk about them before I get to it.

It’s good to be back, even if it’s just for 3 weeks.

I feel sad that Intervention is now just doing “specials” instead of what we are all use to seeing. I guess the surprise element is a major reason but my worry and thought is that we have such a bad opioid crisis and at least this show can get them to treatment. I wish we could start a petition but I am guessing the higher ups couldn’t careless about it. Anyhow, hope everyone is doing well.

I don’t feel like this was a ‘special’ though, it was really just a double episode with a theme. And I thought it was great. I think it was an improvement over what we are used to seeing. I love how they made it an hour and a half – neither of the stories felt rushed like they usually do with the double episodes. And I love that this showed the Interventionist getting involved earlier than just the Pre-Intervention, talking to the kids one on one. I thought that was cool, I hope they keep doing it. I think the minor changes they made were really successful and If the rest of the episodes of the series are like this one I would be totally happy.

i agree with everything you said, dizzy.

i really liked the :90 format and how they structured it to give a little more time for the pre-intervention process.

i also liked that they gave time in the edit to have candy and sylvia talk about their own experiences in addiction and recovery, what interests them about their profession and what they focus on when they’re performing interventions.

to me, the best intervention episodes feel like documentaries. aside from the same type of creepy, off-camera sex working dialogue that we got in ginjer’s episode, i feel like this was a good, solid documentary.

Overall I agree with what everyone is saying. I was disappointed that they didn’t do a Legacy Update though.

Agree all around, and I too wanted a legacy update!

Also I’m going to need Sylvia’s stylish and sporty green tote bag…

I’m sooooo excited for Young and Addicted tonight! The other two “specials” have been great!
