Episode 41: Jessica

Season 3, Episode 6

Age: 21
Location: Missouri
Addiction: Heroin
What’s memorable: The very close but co-dependent relationship with her grandfather Paw Paw, the things that she puts him through to get high, the disturbing nodding off over the coffee table with a needle in her hand, how self-aware Jessica is. She knows perfectly well what she’s doing and how awful her life is, and despite her apathetic attitude, it’s clear that she hates it and feels hopeless.

Official Synopsis: Jessica, 21, comes from a tight-knit family. Her father, mother, sister and grandfather all work at the family-owned gas station. But Jessica’s not allowed to work there any more. Ever since Jessica became addicted to heroin at 17, her family cannot trust her. And even worse–her addiction is straining family relationships. Everyone wants to see her go to treatment, however just organizing the intervention is tearing them apart.

Original Air Date: April 2007
Interventionist: Candy

Categories: Candy, Heroin, Season 3, Traumatic Incident

  1. I was just wondering how Jessica was doing in life and if she is sober? I also live in Missouri about 30 minutes from St.Louis, close to her age and am a recovering addict from heroin. So I no the struggle but I’m going on 3 years and watching a rerun tonight of her episode really got to me and made me want to cry for her because I’ve been there. Idk maybe because it’s from her living so close to me but I just hope she’s doing well.

  4. This was one hell of an intervention. When Paw-Paw Jean said to Jessica, “If I could switch places with you, I would” that just hit me right in the feel.

And what a hard welcome back for her to go right into jail and relapse after leaving. Good luck, Jessica. I hope life gives you all the best.

  5. Jessica was recently all over the news as she was caught breaking into homes jn decent neighborhoods stealing jewelry and other valuables… She was caught and arrested and is currently in jail… Prayers to her family and especially her young son. Thank God her parents have full custody of him. So sad, as I know her personally and she is a really sweet girl when she’s clean.

  7. Oh I didn’t know she had a son. I remember in her episode her grandpa paid for her abortion a few years back. Really hope she will sober up now.
