Season 25, Episode 15
Corinne and Joey
Age: 30 and 36
Location: Weaverville, California
Addiction: Meth
What’s Memorable:
Official Synopsis: Corinne, 30, met Joey, 36, while she was babysitting his 3 kids from a previous relationship and it was love and drugs at first sight. On their second date they smoked meth together and 3-years later their lives in Northern California are spent scrounging together money for meth, smoking whatever they can get their hands on, and professing their undying love for one another. Their troubled relationships with their loved ones and estrangement from their kids leave little prospects for a better life unless they can get clean. Their families want them to get better but worry that their relationship is more harmful than good. This intervention could be their last chance.
Date Aired: August 5, 2024
Interventionist: Amanda Marino and Zach Livingston
I really liked them both, especially Corrine. They both had these moments of self awareness that made me think they would be successful.
So proud of Corrine: in a few months she went from hunched shoulders, crouching behind Joey, very co-dependent with body language that screamed no self worth to strong enough to recognize they needed to be apart for their own wellness. (And she was one of the few that said thank you afterwards; I think Sylvia did after her intervention, too.)
Zach did a bangup job, including keeping Uncle Jamie the therapist from derailing it. (He was like Chuck-lite, but without the Mormonism.)
Also when Joey said he initially left treatment because his ex called over their child misbehaving, my first thought was WHY would you reach out to someone 1 week into their drug rehab to burden them with the kid’s behavioral issues?? He needed to focus on himself, and this gave him a perfect excuse to leave. You’ve been parenting the kids without him for God only knows how long, so another few months won’t kill you!
LOL @ Kristin “Chuck-lite” indeed! 😂
Omg Kristin YES about the ex calling him to come home in the middle of rehab! WTF??? Something is not right.
This was one of the best episodes. You rarely see addicts that are so aware and reflective. I absolutely love Corinne, she seems like such a warm and nice person, she wanted the help so badly. The uncle was definitely too busy with his own ego but Zach did an awesome job with him. I generally really like Zach and not just because he is beautiful lol. He has a very calming presence.
@A I 1000% agree with you! Both of them were very insightful and self aware! I immediately could feel their genuine and sincere nature. How touching when Corinne would immediately say “thank you” after each letter was read!! She was beyond grateful and you could feel it! I feel as if both of them wanted to jump up and say “YES I’LL GO!!” even before the letters began! Corrine looked beyond beautiful in her follow up she was glowing! I pray they both make it and chase their dreams! I think breaking off the relationship was for the best! Fresh new start! They definitely should be on the most likeable category/list! 🥰
Wow – Really good people, both of them. I have to say, Corrine really moved me. She is very wise, even in her active addiction, to notice the resentment she felt and hear her Mom out. To thank everyone. Watching her was really powerful. I wish her the best.
