Send Dizzy a Tip!

Buy Me a Coffee

Season 6 Episode 4

Donald

Age: late 30’s?
Location: Mastic, Long Island, New York
Addiction: Crack, alcohol
What’s memorable: Did you know that the mix of crack and alcohol results in more deaths than any other 2-drug combination? I didn’t know that before this episode. It’s surprising actually. I woulda thought maybe heroin and xanax, or pain meds and alcohol. ANYWAY, Donald seems like a thoroughly decent and caring guy who just can’t stay away from crack when life becomes just too hard for him to deal with (and things have certainly been hard, no doubt about it). He has a lot to lose and a lot to look forward to, I hope he was able to stay sober.

Official Synopsis: When he was five, Donald’s parents divorced. He longed for a strong father figure, but his father had very little contact with him. Donald became a gifted boxer, but ultimately chose drugs over his career. He joined a violent gang and turned to stealing to support his crack habit. Now his son is angry because Donald wasn’t there for him growing up. Donald’s girlfriend just had a baby and Donald has a second chance to be a good father, but his crack use is spiraling out of control.

Original Air Date: June 2009
Interventionist: Candy

I have wondered about him. He seemed to be very sad. I am praying that he eventually got sober and found happiness.

    1. Maggie W.

      Any update on him?

      1. Donald

    1. Donald

Hi Katie all is well I started you tube channel

  4. Lo

Dizzy, I was shocked about how alcohol + cocaine results in more deaths than any other two drug combo, as well. I also suspected heroin + benzos would be the most lethal. Donald seemed close enough to death with the crack alone, I hope he’s okay.

  5. Brooke

i’m sure it was the drugs talking, but i am in disbelief that he actually thought he was wronged somehow by not having access to the bank accounts. he felt he should be “an equal partner in any relationship”. yeah, maybe if he didn’t spend all the money on drugs. not to mention the fact that he doesn’t work, they’re not married, and don’t even live together. also, what was the counselor talking about in the follow up when he said “he accepts everything’s not carolynn’s fault”? what would be her fault?? i was kinda distracted during this episode so maybe i missed something. btw, did anyone notice the baby not in a car seat when they were driving to see donald after treatment? tsk tsk.

    1. Kara

Brooke, Oh my gosh every point you just made I was exactly thinking the same thing! Even the baby being out of the car seat I even rewinded it to see if the van with moving which it was…

  6. Caroline

I believe he didn’t get his life together because Carolynn and him split up, she has full custody of their son and they don’t live in the same state…
I did some research and this is the only thing I found…

He hasn’t posted on Facebook since 2019

    1. Carolynn

I understand that court cases are public information but out of respect for my family and son please do not post our personal information across message boards. It would be greatly appreciated.

      1. Julia

I completely agree and it’s admirable that you’ve expressed this.
Sure, it’s a public forum, but showing respect, for others, doesn’t cost a darn thing!

Just watched that episode now.. I’m sobbing like a baby
So sad.. I’ve grown around addiction and still am surrounded by it today.. I hope and pray you and your family are doing well and i pray for Donny.
I’ve seen so many good men like him fall to these insidious drugs and the filthy dealers that sell them… xoxo

  7. RS

Just watched Donny’s episode. Rarely have I seen someone that tweaked. I really wanted him to get clean. Those kids adored him just a shame it wasn’t enough but if he’s still using they, unfortunately, are better without him

  8. Julie

It pains me to see that Donny didn’t get sober. You can tell he has a really good heart and the potential to be a great father.

I also admired Carolynn for holding boundaries with him. That seems to be fairly rare with Intervention families.

    1. Donald

I don’t know where u get this information from but the facts are very different from your options im well over 10 years now everything is well there was however alot of misconceptions about the truth reported by the show as they have recently aired in Ireland and of course as I would expect alot of nasty comments as would be expected during such a controversial show!

      1. Robin Brown

Seems moving away was a good move to getting started in your recovery, GOD BLESS 🙏🏻

      2. Laurie

        Watching your episode
        I am in Selden
I am happy to see that your comments here say you are doing well

  9. Anonymous

By looking as his facebook, he seems sober to me. Happy to see that

    1. Donald

      Thank u

  10. Donald

Just created a you tube channel

    1. Natasha

How do I find your youtube channel please?

      1. Bess

I think this is the youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCS1-qWZLMACNLlI3-ueiCVg

It’s… rather odd? Not sure why he would be here promoting it. Two videos under 30 seconds with no narrative or context as to what you’re seeing.

    2. Eireann

Donald how are u doing. I’m from Ireland and u hit a nerve with me. I think there’s some Irish in u from the way ur so loving and caring x

    3. Laurie

What is the you tube channel?

  11. Jenna

Donnie is doing well and is a very charming sweet man.Im happy to meet such a wonderful soul. You can just see how much joy and happiness he has in his heart. He just started a YouTube channel so everyone should go and check it out tomorrow!!!!

  12. Mel

Donny I just want to say that there’s nothing wrong with you, you’re perfect just the way you are – you are love! And I hope you’re taking care of yourself and learning how to truly love yourself.

  13. Elle

    Different guy now

    1. Carolynn

      That’s not true

      1. CDF

Are you and him still in contact? If not I’d recommend not checking these message boards and living your life with your kids. I’d imagine it’s interesting to see what people say about a TV show you are in but you will never change the perception.
        Hope your life goes well.

      2. Elle

it was when I wrote that. spent every day with him for almost a year and a half. when I wrote that he was a different guy .

  14. Jayla

I’m binginging this show from the beginning so still have many to watch. Donny is the most attractive guy on the show thus far. I hope he’s well.

  15. Anthony M

I hope Donald is doing okay as of now (I am also from Long Island so Donald’s intervention definitely hits close to home)
