Official synopsis: To the outside world, his life may seem ideal. Dan, 40, is married and has a beautiful daughter, Ava. He loves music and works as a first mate for a snorkeling and whale-watching boat company on a stunning Hawaiian Island. But everything is not what it seems. Dan is an alcoholic. An adolescence filled with physical violence and verbal abuse left Dan with deep emotional pain. Dan’s family desperately hopes that an intervention will turn his life around.

You are a beautiful person
I totally understand your grief. And I totally understand feeling very misunderstood.
I won’t pretend to know what you went thru or what you are going thru but I can tell you that you really helped me a lot. I know how sensitive I am and that nobody I know is in any way as emotional or sensitive as I feel.
It makes me very isolated and I take everything so to heart. I only recognize this now after watching your story.
Thank you Dan for putting it all out there.

Please stay strong. You are such a high quality person with such a beautiful heart.

Thanks for posting that. Glad to see Dan is doing well, but I’m not sure his status as “Bottler at LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyards” is good news for an alcoholic?
He looks so clean & happy in his most recent photos, but yeah,I agree a winery is not the best idea.

I found his brother that was sentenced to death. Such a terrible tragedy for everyone involved.

Thank you for sharing this. It’s definitely a terrible tragedy for the poor 17-year-old girl who died in an unimaginably horrible way. And her family.
Don’t know iff it’s true but read somewhere tht he passed.
They just rebroadcast this on LMN and it makes me so sad that he relapsed after only 8 months of sobriety and his wife rightly divorced him. According to the update at the end of the episode, he became somber in July 2009, only 7 months after his wife left him. I hope he at least still has a relationship with his little girl. Tragic but hopefully he’s on a good path.
