Now that I’ve completed my spreadsheet repository of basic information about each episode, I’m starting a new section for statistics about the show. If you have any suggestions let me know. Here’s the first one (US eps only):
I think they all do a great job. I actually saw Heather Hayes from the Heroin Triangle episodes in a Starbucks but I was too shy to go say hello. I really wanted to though!
I think they should use donna more. Shes a no bullshit type of person much like Jeff. I honestly like all of them equally. And sad to know that john passed away. Candy has a soft demeanor. Jeff is no BS. Ken is factual. What they all do is try to help and in the end thats what matters 👍
I couldn’t DISagree with you more Toreigh. I think Donna is a nightmare interventionist. By far my absolute favorite one is Seth Jaffe, who seems to really get that the last thing an addict needs is tough love. They are burying themselves in that self-condemnation already.
Donna seems to have zero empathy. I wish they would hand ALL of her interventions over to Seth Jaffe
I think they are all good in different ways, even Donna. She gets a bad wrap all of the time. Perfect example of her at her best was Sierra’s Intervention. She was amazing. I hope they put serious time and effort into who they chose to intervene on whom, because I think it makes a huge difference on how each person will respond. If it were me, I would want Candy. I just love her.
I wish Seth would be on more episodes but the ones that he is on really fit him well. He’s no nonsense but in a caring, sympathetic way. I love him for calling out the obvious whether it be about a family member or the addict. The Gina episode was the best one that showed his true talent.
I used to not care too much about Candy but she has grown on me over the years.
My least favorite is the Canada interventionist, Maureen Brine. She really does nothing for me. JMO
I totally agree about Maureen. She may be a great person but she’s just bland in the role of interventionist. I like the others really well and I agree some are better for specific situations than others. I also agree that I hope they match the addict with the staff they feel would be best. Candy is phenomenal with addicted moms because she’s been there. I like Ken a lot too. I think Donna is fabulous when a tougher approach is needed especially younger agitated males. There are times when an addict is fragile and broken more than usual and that is where Seth shines. I like the way he calls out shitty family members…think Gina episode. I think some of the lesser known interventionists are really good too. Andrew Galloway from Canada is especially kind and patient especially with crack addicts because that was his poison and I’ve seen him really relate to addicts in a way I haven’t seen the others. I’m thinking of the girl who started cooking crack at her Intervention in front of him. I think there is a time when the addict needs to hear from someone who has been there and rose from the ashes because it’s scary getting clean especially if you have to detox. I wish more of them would interject their a bit of their raw personal experience in a vulnerable way to the addict. There’s a time and a place for it at times, it helps put the addict at ease instead of in defense mode. I think growing up hard and living rough is part of Seth’s appeal. He doesn’t come off as a stuffed shirt psychologist type that I think Jeff often does. Sorry to ramble but like most of you I’m passionate about this show and the good work they do. As someone in recovery that’s lucky to be alive I am thankful for anyone who advocates for the addict. God bless them!
I loved Dr. Tara Fields from seasons 1 & 2. She really tried to help Vanessa, but it somehow didn’t work out despite Tara’s best efforts. Jeff is my favorite! He’s relatable all around.
I really can’t stand Jeff. I think he just uses the same cookie cutter lines for each intervention. When I hear the same lines, I roll my eyes because it seems so disingenuous. Each person is unique, and need different advice. His lines are accurate, but sounds like he’s just going through the motions. Seth is by far my favorite. He’s so good at walking the line between being supportive but also not taking the addicts B.S. Honestly, my favorites are anyone who tells the family straight up they need to change. Because Sylvia is too nice, I don’t like her as an interventionalist because of that. I don’t think she does a good job at being direct with the family and addict. I like her as a person just not a huge fan of her in that role, especially with families who need a reality check. Dizzy, I’m super curious as which interventionalists are your favorites, least favorites, and why?

We all have our own opinions .Yours is yours and mine is mine.

I love Donna. She’s fabulous. She calls it like she sees it, like it or not. Also love Candy.
Donna is my favorite. She doesn’t mess around… either get help or suffer the consequences!

I was not a fan of Tara. I wonder why she wasn’t brought back after season 2.
