Buy Me a Coffee

S2E11 Andrea

Season 2, Episode 14

Andrea

Age: 30
Location: Pennsylvania
Addiction: Alcohol, cocaine

What’s memorable: The strong bond she has with her son and how she turned to drugs when her husband got cancer. And also that she reminds me so much of me and my friends when we were in our 20’s.

Official synopsis:  Andrea is a 30-year-old, divorced, single mother addicted to alcohol, cocaine and marijuana. She says that she loves the party lifestyle and that she can’t end the cycle of drinking and drugs in which she’s immersed herself. Can an intervention can bring her the “peace” she’s looking for?

Original Air Date: April 2006
Interventionist: Jeff

Hey Andrea. I saw your episode recently and realized that I knew you. I hope you are doing well. My prayers are with you.

  2. Jimmie

Too bad she is still drinking…

  3. Jenna

Has anyone heard any updates on her since the show aired?

  4. Bethany

Did she loose custody of her son when she moved or did she give it up?

Dizzy, you hit the nail on the head when you said it reminds you of your friends when they were in their 20’s. She reminded me a lot of myself when I was in my 20’s. I was out at a bar every single night getting wasted and doing cocaine in my 20’s. Now in my 30’s, I’d rather have a quiet night at home with a movie, music or a book. I hope Andrea is well.

  6. Andy

Does anyone have any updates on her?

andrea was so dedicated to her son, as much as one can be when addicted to drugs and alcohol that is, so i’m surprised that she moved away from her son and only visited him every few weeks. she didn’t lose custody while she was using, therefore i can’t imagine she would have lost custody after having sought help so it must be her decision to do that. wow, that’s disappointing.

I thought of it more as “wow, she must have found out in rehab that she had a lot more work to do than she thought she did”— in terms of getting clean and getting it together as a mom. I assumed it would have been a really hard decision to be away from her child even longer than initially expected. Rather than a “disappointing” blow off of responsibility.

This was me for a long time. I was a raver from 16 and then met my husband who was a big DJ. It got absolutely crazy. I have been forced to stop by my spinal disability. I still have friends doing this in their 40s. It’s crazy. I wish I had never got into this lifestyle. I’m glad I’m away from it.

Any update on Andrea? Just watched this episode and I know it’s 14 years ago. Would really love to know how her son is doing, he was such a lovely kid, I was sad to see she moved away from him in the end, hard as a mother myself to know how a parent can do that.

when she says it’s not fun anymore. I felt that. when the fun is gone, the want is there but the NEED..the need is what has u the most.. that’s when u kno your in trouble. Andrea is beautiful. she seems intelligent..hard working and u can tell how much she adores her son… and that son…hes absolutely adorable. I can imagine hes a young handsome man today. I hope she’s doin well…I really do.
